Originating in Newcastle, workforce software management company Pegasus has raised $28 million from Silicon Valley tech investment firm Accel-KKR. This significant investment will allow the company to take its offerings globally to the US, UK and Europe.
Beginning as a mining labour hire firm in Singleton more than 20 years ago, Pegasus has experienced close to 25% year-on-year growth. The company develops software that manages safety and delivers solutions for big business such as Woolworths, BHP and Lendlease.
Pegasus’s success is a testament to the innovation of Novocastrian businesses and people, particularly throughout the exponential changes in the tech industry over past few the decades. Pegasus’s chief officer Adam Boyle says, "we've reinvented workplace labour and safety management for the modern company and mobile worker.”
Boyle goes on to emphasise that “we can develop Newcastle talent to be globally competitive", as many creative and innovative individuals appear from the Newcastle area. Pegasus is one example of a Newcastle-founded company led by individuals who understand the workplace, pinpoint what is missing and become the missing piece.
Pegasus employs 120 staff – 100 of which work from their Newcastle headquarters. As a result of its success, Pegasus is now a leading industry workforce management solution for high-risk industries including mining, construction, rail & transport, manufacturing, and retail.
