Diffuse Energy has developed the world's most powerful small wind turbine to complement solar PV generation. With this innovation they're helping telecommunication sites save on diesel generation and increase energy resilience with renewable energy.

Diffuse Energy has benefited from being in Newcastle, through having been supported by the I2N Innovation Hub at the Williamtown Astra Aerolabs. I2N provided Diffuse energy with

the knowledge and connections needed to commercialise their innovation. Thanks to this early-stage help Diffuse Energy has created three full-time jobs, one part-time job, and several internships.

The startup was able to advance further with support from Federal Government R&D tax incentives and the NSW State Government Minimum Viable Product grant, which helped to develop their wind turbine technology and gain commercial customers. These measures helped Diffuse Energy to engage local manufactures in developing their innovation, such as Newcastlebased Newie Ventures and have 80% of their product be Australian made. Having successfully developed an MVP, Diffuse Energy was able to secure $400,000 in pre-seed funding from Shearwater Growth Equity, led by a city alumnus.
